Device for combustion and heating, with a ceramic burner head having throughflow ducts for fuel and oxidising agent which extend parallel to one another towards the burner mouth and which have a slot-form cross-section and are adjacently arranged along their elongated sides, and with a ceramic recuperator having throughflow ducts of slot form for hot gas flowing out of the combustion chamber and for a medium which is to be heated, the latter ducts being situated parallel to one another and likewise arranged to be adjacent along their elongated sides, characterized in that the burner head (1, 23, 43) and the recuperator (2, 25, 44) are connected to one another to form an integral ceramic block in such a manner that between the burner mouth (3, 29, 45) of the burner head and the hot gas inlet (4, 33, 46) at one end of the recuperator there is arranged a combustion chamber (5, 31, 47) which is incorporated in the block and which is situated in alignment with the burner head and the recuperator.
