A dispersion comprises 60-85 wt.% pulverised coal, water and about 0.01-0.15 (pref. about 0.1) wt.% of at least 1 additive (A), adsorbed by the coal, which provides repulsion between the coal particles by hydration forces. (A) is pref. a zwitterionic amphiphile, and esp. a phosphlipid, e.g. lecithin or an alkylbetaine. - Coal can be transported through pipelines by pumping the dispersion. Dispersion stability w.r.t. flocculation and sedimentation is improved. It can be atomised without agglomerating, and burnt in boilers designed for heavy oil.(0/0) |
