In the boring tool, an interchangeable cutting body is fastened to a holder. At the head of a basic body consisting of a head and a locating shank, the interchangeable cutting body can be set to various boring diameters by the holder being rotatably mounted on a journal protruding from the head, with an axis parallel to the axis of the locating shank, at the end face remote from the locating shank, and by catches being provided which follow one another between the head and the holder on a circle concentric to the axis of the journal. A cylinder pin protruding from a radial nose of the head projects in a sliding fit in each case into one of the catches formed as blind bores parallel axially to the axis of the journal so that, in such a way as to save tool costs, improvements result with regard to simple and rapid changing of the boring diameter and fine boring to closer tolerances with higher machining capacity. As a result of unequal catch spacings which are made possible, uniform adjusting steps in the variation of the boring diameter can be achieved.
