PURPOSE:To obtain an optical transmission fiber having superior heat resistance, flexibility and optical transmission performance by using an acrylate or methyl methacrylate-base polymer as a core component and a tansparent polymer having a lower refractive index than the core component as a sheath component. CONSTITUTION:A methyl methacrylate-base polymer contg. 0-40wt% methacrylate having >=8C alicyclic hydrocarbon at its ester moiety and 0.001-1.0wt% acrylate or methacrylate having two or more polymerizable double bonds in one molecule is used as a core component. A transparent polymer whose refractive index is lower than that of the core component by >=3% is used as a sheath component. Said acrylate or methacrylate having two or more polymerizable double bonds in one molecule includes ethylene glycol diacrylate. It is preferable that the polymer as the sheath component is nearly amorphous and has a high adhesive property to the core component, and polyvinyl fluoride, polyvinylidene fluoride or the like is used. |
