The invention relates to an electrical capacitor which can be regenerated, in particular for AC voltage, which is wound from layers of plastic films metallised with aluminium, metal-free edge strips being arranged on the long sides of the films and layers of other metals also being applied. In order to achieve the object of providing good electrical conductivity of the metallisation layer at little cost, the layer of the other metal is applied as a narrow strip adjacent to the metal-free edge strip, consists of a metal which conducts less well than aluminium and is less susceptible than aluminium to the capacitance being reduced as a function of time.
