[Also in Group XIV] A mould for the production of foam rubber articles - includes a plurality of separable sections 11, 12 at least one of which has affixed thereto a plurality of core pins 13, 14 which project into the mould cavity, at least some of these pins being hollow and provided with open ends whereby moulding composition introduced into the mould cavity can flow into the hollow interior of the pins, means being provided for venting air from the pins during this filling operation. In one example the marginal edge portions of a mattress or cushion are given increased firmness by using core pins 14 of generally annular form around the periphery of the mould 10. The air venting means comprises between one and six slots 18 preferably extending only part way along the pin 14. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown) these slots are replaced by a venting valve which may comprise merely an opening in the upper mould section connecting the interior of the pin with atmosphere.
