The wide-necked drum made of plastic can be closed by a lid which has a bottom, which is inserted in the drum neck via an inner edge, and an outer edge, gripping over the drum neck, with a radial lid flange. The lid is sealed by a sealing ring inserted in the annular groove between the inner and outer edge of the lid. On the underside, the lid flange has alternating tongue-type projections and recesses which are arranged with a particular distribution over the lid circumference. Engaging in the flange recesses are annular flange segments which are moulded onto the drum neck and complement the cross-sectional partial profile of the lid flange formed in the region of the recesses to form the cross-sectional full profile of the lid flange in the region of the projections. The clamping ring, which grips around the lid flange and the annular flange segments, is secured by clamping webs which are moulded onto the lid projections and extend in the circumferential direction.
