An electric coffee or tea machine, from the fresh water vessel 1 of which water is carried via an instantaneous water heater 3, a riser tube 2 and an outlet pipe stub 4, down into the brewing filter 6. The outlet pipe stub is formed as a buffer vessel 7 with a constriction opening 13 and an overflow opening 8 opening into the fresh water vessel 1. In the buffer vessel 7, a number of crosswise bodies 16 are present, relaxing the flow of water through the vessel.
