PURPOSE:To provide high degree of accuracy in the manufacture of a Braun tube, by eliminating misalignment between the stem and the electron gun occurring when the neck portion is sealed with the stem. CONSTITUTION:While the converging cup 8 is provided with three valve spacers 71, 72, 73 attached thereto, the contact portion 71a of the valve spacer 71 opposing the getter support 26 is farther extended by L1 in the direction of the panel than the contact portions 72a of the other spacers 72, 73 not opposing the gatter support 26. The getter support 26 is provided with a contact portion 26a similar to the contact portions 72a of the valve spacers 72, 73 disposed at the position at the same height as the valve spacers 72, 73. With a Braun tube as constructed as just described, if the linear distance between the contact portion 26a of the getter support 26 on the side of the neck 3 and the contact portion 26b of the same on the side of the funnel 2 is represented by L2, the contact pressure at the contact portion 26b is represented by F2, and the distance between the contact portions 26a, 72a and the stem 9 is represented by L3, then F1XL1 F2XL2 is sufficed, and therefore F3 F4 is sufficed. When F3 F4, there is no forth causing displacement of the stem 9 and therefore the effect of the getter support 26 at the time of sealing can be eliminated. |
