In an apparatus for laying pipe runs or the like in the bed of water courses, there is provided, in order to maintain the natural layered structure of the bed and for laying with low outlay in terms of force and labour, a wedge body (1) which can be driven into the bed and having a casing (2), fixedly connected to said wedge body on the rear side, through which the pipe runs (8) can be guided and which has displacement bodies (11) which are supported on the wedge surfaces (9) on the outside and can be raised in a pneumatic and/or hydraulic or mechanical manner from a rest position in the proximity of the wedge surfaces (9) into an operating position which is more remote from the wedge surfaces (9). <IMAGE>
