The holding device for strips of wallpaper consists of two clamping arms, which can be clamped firmly on a table top at a distance corresponding to the width of the web of wallpaper, and a cutting beam extending between the two clamping arms. Each clamping arm, which preferably consists of plastic, has a clamping portion, a roll-holding limb, extending in one direction from the clamping portion, for holding the roll of wallpaper, and a bar-holding limb, extending in the opposite direction, for holding the cutting bar. The roll-holding limbs of the two clamping arms can each be deflected resiliently about a vertical axis so that the roll of wallpaper can be inserted and exchanged by bending apart the two roll-holding limbs provided with journal stubs. The bar-holding limbs can each be deflected resiliently about an axis parallel to the roll axis so that the uncoiled strip of wallpaper can be fixed by slight pressure on the cutting bar from above between the cutting bar and the base for carrying out the cutting operation. <IMAGE>
