Compound spiral dryer fabrics suitable for belts useful as forming wires and/or in the dryer section of a papermaking machine comprise alternate left hand and right hand spiral yarns (1,2,3) arranged with their axes parallel and in the same plane and pins (18) interconnecting them, the yarns and preferably also the pins being of monofilaments e.g. of polyester. With a view to decreasing the air permeability of the fabric and increasing the number of paper contact points, each spiral contains at least three pins (18). The left hand spirals are hinged together by non-adjacent pins and the right hand spirals are also hinged together by non- adjacent pins. and adjacent left and right hand yarns (1,2; 2.3) touch each other and are off-set along the fabric length. <IMAGE> |
