Hot-fluid pipeline with external cooling

For pipelines which are intended for the transportation of a hot fluid under pressure (for example of the helium used as the coolant in high-temperature nuclear-power systems) and which have an outer pipe (2) which is intended for enclosure of the pressure but does not have sufficient strength at the temperature of the fluid, external cooling is proposed which consists of sectors (5) which rest tightly against the pipeline and in which cooling channels (3) are integrated which run in a meandering shape and are connected via connections (4) to an external cooling device. In order to avoid weakening of the outer pipe (2) by welding and the like, but nevertheless to make this accessible when required for inspection purposes, the sectors (5) are placed loosely on the pipe and are attached by means of clamping strips (6, 7). In order to improve the heat transfer, it is proposed that the inside of the sectors (5) have as little heat reflectivity as possible. <IMAGE>
