PURPOSE:To control numerically the automatic vertical feeding of the lathe simply and inexpensively by a method wherein an output shaft is connected to the outer end of a lead screw in the carriage of the conventional lathe through a clutch while the on-off of the clutch and the ON-OFF of an output for the lead screw are switched mutually. CONSTITUTION:When an operating lever 5 is switched to a connecting side 5a, an NC device is interlocked and the clutch 6 is cut at the same time, therefore, the initiation or stop of the screw cutting movement of an apron 2 or the carriage may be selected by operating the opening and closing lever 4 of a half-nut 3 in the same manner as the conventional lathe. On the other hand, when the operating lever 5 is switched to an interrupting side 5b, the interlocking of the NC device is released and, at the same time, the clutch 6 is connected, therefore, the lead screw is rotated directly by a servomotor 7. The servomotor 7 is operated by the commanding signal of the NC device, therefore, the carriage of the apron 2 may be operated by the numerical control in Z-axis direction. |
