<p>PURPOSE:To form the titled metallic thin film-type magnetic recording medium having excellent traveling property, wear resistance, and electromagnetic transducing characteristic by providing a layer contg. a compd. having a mercapto group on a ferromagnetic metallic thin film. CONSTITUTION:The layer contg. a compd. having a mercapto group is provided on the surface of the ferromagnetic metallic thin film. The compd. to be used has a mercapto group in the molecule and a good result can be obtained when a compd. among the compds. having a comparatively high mol.wt., with less volatility, and having a mercapto group and an ester coupling in the molecule is used. A saturated or unsaturated aliphatic mercaptan is generally used as the compd. having a mercapto group, and a cyclic compd. can also be used. Consequently, the resistance to the wear by members such as a magnetic head and a guide pole is remarkably improved and the friction coefficient to a traveling member is reduced.</p> |
