A device for adjusting the fuel injection sequence comprises a housing, which accommodates a time control piston, which at the opposite ends is exposed to the fuel at high or low fuel pressure, so that its position is determined by the difference between the high and low fuel pressure. The time control piston is biassed towards the high fuel pressure side. The entire housing, which accommodates the time control piston, is displaceable in relation to the pump housing and its position in relation to the pump housing can be adjusted by an adjusting screw mechanism in order to remove manufacturing and/or assembly defects in the characteristics of the fuel injection pump.
