PURPOSE:To form a dye with high yield without unnecessary fog or stains with a sufficient reaction activity by processing an imagewise exposed silver halide photosensitive material in the presence of a specified magenta coupler. CONSTITUTION:The magenta coupler to be used is one of compds. represented by formula ( I ) in which R1 is aryl, preferably, phenyl; R2 is anilino, acylamino, ureido, or carbamoyl; R3 is alkylene or alkenylene; X is O or S; Z is a heterocyclic group, and the hetero atom in the ring participates in resonance, and the ring contg. the hetero atom has a resonance structure. To produce a silver halide color photographic sensitive material, one kind of coupler alone, or 2 kinds of couplers or more may be used. |
