摘要 An electrophoresis process is described for separating anions and cations, in particular proteins, enzymes and peptides in the horizontal method. The separation in this case is carried out in a thin or ultrathin gel matrix (made of for example polyacrylamide or agarose), which is so arranged that it can be used for one-dimensional and two-dimensional electrophoreses or both at the same time. To receive the liquid samples for one-dimensional separation, the gel matrix contains a chain of small gel troughs over the entire width of the gel and, in addition, arranged next to this in the direction of separation, a large gel trough running across the entire width of the gel for receiving gel strips for separation in the second dimension. Since the depth of both gel trough types must not pass through the entire gel layer - a gel base must be present - subsequent introduction of these gel troughs into a polymerised gel is not possible.
