The invention relates to a mechanically or hydraulically actuated friction clutch, especially for motor cycles, comprising two clutch main parts, the drive and output part, which are frictionally connected by way of plates under spring force. When disengaging the clutch, the spring force on the plates is cancelled and the frictional contact interrupted. For bridging the speed in this process a ball bearing is fitted between the two clutch main parts as close as possible to the clutch centre, so that the lateral forces occurring in the vicinity of the clutch centre which lead to destruction of the bearing are avoided.
