A fuel injection pumping apparatus for supplying fuel to a two cylinder compression ignition engine has a rotary and axially movable distributor member 12 which is movable axially by four cam lobes carried on a rotary cam ring 14 and with which cooperate four rollers 15 on a carrier 16 held against movement. Four inlet passages 22 are provided each of which communicates with a slot 21 in the distributor member once per revolution of the latter. The slot communicates with a pumping chamber defined by a bore 11 in which the distributor member is mounted. Fuel is displaced from the bore four times per revolution and alternate displacements of fuel take place to outlets 24 in turn. The fuel displacement during the remaining displacements takes place to dummy outlets which communicate with absorbing chambers or the inlet passages 22.
