PURPOSE:To facilitate handling and to improve the operativity of assembly (mounting) greatly by removing a protection layer by a mechanical means while a photosensitive body is mounted. CONSTITUTION:A grinding device as a protection layer removing means is provided nearby a cleaning device 22 and the grinding device 23 includes a grinding belt 24 which grinds the protection layer 13 away from a photosensitive drum 12 and a driving roller 25 which drives this grinding belt 24. This grinding belt 24 or the whole grinding device 23 is moved or displaced by a solenoid 26 as shown by an arrow A or B. When the grinding device 23 is moved as shown by an arrow A, the grinding belt 24 is pressed against the protection layer 13 on the photosensitive drum 12 to grind it away. A power source 38 powered on the solenoid 26 under the control of a control circuit 40.
