Method and device for controlling the rotation speed of an asynchronous motor, wherein the desired speed and load are taken into account. From those parameters, magnitudes are derived and transformed into a control signal which is applied to diode elements arranged in at least two of the power supply paths of the motor windings. This arrangement is such that, by taking into account the load and/or the rotation speed, the noise is considerably reduced or eliminated and heat losses are reduced. To this effect, the voltage-time surfaces in the windings are controlled by the diode elements so as to be unequal.
