A controllable rectifier (21) which reduces the conducting period in the event of a motor (20) being overloaded is connected in the circuit of the motor (20). In order to make it possible for the current flow control to be carried out using simple, commercially-available purely electrical means, a measuring resistor (22) is connected in series with the motor (20) and the controllable rectifier (21). The measured voltage present on the measuring resistor (22) is supplied to a threshold value switch (23) whose threshold value is set such that, if a predetermined rated load of the motor (20) is exceeded, a downstream-connected current flow actuator (25) sets a reduced conducting period on the controllable rectifier (21). <IMAGE>
