The invention relates to constructional engineering. The compressed-air percussion device contains a cylindrical hollow body (1) with an inlet opening (2) and an outlet opening (3). A stepped percussion tool (4) with an axial passage is accommodated inside the body (1). In order to ensure movement of the percussion tool (4) inside the body (1), a chamber for the working stroke (6) and a chamber for the idle stroke (7) are provided. A hose (8) and a cock (9) are provided for the supply of compressed air. A clamping device (10) is arranged in the front part of the body (1). Provided on the smaller step of the percussion tool (4) is a groove (14) via which the inlet opening (2) is conductively connected to the space of the larger step of the body (1), and an open annular space (15) is formed between the tube (5) and the axial passage of the percussion tool (4). The present invention can be used especially effectively for driving bar-shaped elements into the ground which have a cross-section which is significantly smaller in relation to the length.
