PURPOSE:To prevent a positive electrode plate from being deteriorated as well as to aim at improvement in storage capabilities for a long period of time, by adding a specific quantity of silica gel to an active material. CONSTITUTION:Fine powder of silica gel is added to lead powder and mixed well, while a paste-like substance made up of adding water and sulfuric acid to this mixture and being kneaded is used for filling up a pole base plate and then a positive electrode plate is secured through the conventional process. If the amount of silica gel added is 0.1% or less, the adsorbability of silica gel is very poor whereby there is a lesser effect during storage, but if it exceeds the range of 1.0%, its effect is lost anyway due to a drop in electric conductivity, so that there is necessary to limit the addition of silica gel to the range of 0.1-1.0wt%. |
