Silk screen printing paste comprises active materials (I), an adhesion agent, an organic binder and a solvent. The improvement is that (I) comprises a mixt. of 88-99% ZnO, 0.1-5% Bi2O3, 0.1-5% MnO, 0.1-5% Sb2O3, 0.1-5% CoO and 0.1-5% Cr2O3, expressed as molar percentage. Also claimed are varistors using the above paste. The paste can be deposited as a thick film on a support between 2 electrodes to form a varistance can be deposited on a microelectronic circuit substrate.
