The invention relates to a device with drawers for sharpening knives and similar hand tools, in which an elongated grinding element 3 is located in a front box that forms part of a pull-out drawer 2. The grinding element 3 extends upward to the top of the front box in a direction essentially normal to the direction in which the pull-out drawer 2 moves. The grinding element 3 is so arranged that it extends only part of the way in the direction of the said top, and the full closing movement of the pull-out drawer 2 is not hindered by the grinding element in this arrangement. The grinding element 3 can be an essentially rectangular piece, located in a milled- out seat or recess in the front box, which is upwardly open. The grinding element 3 has a working surface on at least that lateral side of it which faces away from the recess after being inserted in it. The grinding element 3 can also be designed as an elongated strip-shaped piece, which is fitted with a layer of grinding material on a lateral surface, and its opposite lateral surface can be brought into contact with the top of the front box. The side that can be so fitted with the grinding material preferably has a self-adhesive coating, which is protected by a protective film or the like before application. <IMAGE> |
