<p>The gas generator comprises a series arrangement of a fuel hopper, a combustion chamber fed with air, a gas and solid residue withdrawal zone, a gas treatment unit and a feed system for a gas engine, the gas being heated in the gas treatment unit, pref. by circulating the gas within the combustion chamber. The generator is used for prodn. of gaseous fuel e.g. for motors in electricity generating plant and for vehicle engines. Reheating of the gas, after solids separation, ensures conversion of CO2 to CO and cracking of hydrocarbons and other undesirable components so that gas of improved purity is produced in a simple and economical manner.</p> |
