A method is disclosed for improving the odor of dialkyl polysulfides of the formula R-SxR<1> (R and R<1> are C1-C18 alkyl or substituted-alkyl groups, x is 2-6) which contain sulfur bearing odoriferous impurities wherein the impure polysulfide is intimately mixed with a specified metal salt for a period of time sufficient to reduce the odor of the mixture. |
