The prover is of the type in which each tray carried between a pair of horizontal support slides. The slides follow a path of elevation and descent so that a tray can be loaded in at the start and extracted at the end of the path. The prover comprises an elevation zone and a descent zone alongside each other in a direction transversal to the tray support slides. Each zone contains a set of spaced, superimposed, pairs of slides. Slides at the top of the two zones are in the same horizontal plane. Loaded trays are inserted at the top of the descent zone and extracted at the top of the elevation zone. Immediately below the two zones, a transfer mechanism accepts each tray as released at the bottom of the descent zone and moves it over to be picked up by slides of the elevation zone. The cabinet is for storing trays loaded with food, esp. trays carrying dough pieces for final proof before baking.
