PURPOSE:To reduce smear considerably, by subjecting information, which is read out on a basis of excess clock pulses, to subtraction processing to generate the output signal of a horizontal transfer circuit. CONSTITUTION:When a strong light is incident to a picture element (k,i), smear components are included in the signal which is read out by the (n+2)/2-th pulse of vertical shift register clock pulses. Consequently, m-number of information which are read out from a horizontal shift register 7 after the (n+2)/2-th pulse is applied are allowed to correspond to each vertical shift register line 1; and each time signal charge of photoregisters is read out from a register 7 total n- number of times by line in the next field, information of corresponding lines which are stored in an external circuit are subtracted through a subtracting circuit or the like, thereby eliminating smear. |
