Prior Art contextural comparison systems require the loading of a portion of information (known as the "data base") into a working memory of the system from a mass memory storage for scanning by a computer. The entire process is rather slow. In the present invention, the information from the mass storage device (11a) to be compared is input byte-wise into decoder (12) wherein it is immediately decoded, producing a unique signal corresponding to each individual byte. Decoded data memory (13) is made up of a plurality of shift registers, each shift register receiving an individual one of such unique signals, with the information stored in the plurality of registers forming the data base to be compared. The comparison is performed in logical operator (14), with the results thereof being transmitted to CPU (15). Comparing the received information after it is shifted through the decoded data memory (13) results in faster operation of the system. |
