PURPOSE:To suppress the production of CO2 from an no-volatile organic matter and detect only a volatile organic carbon in a process of oxidative destruction of an organic matter into CO2, by alkalizing a sample. CONSTITUTION:An analysis sample is fed to a pH adjusting part 3 from a sample feed part 1 through the working of a pump, it is adjusted to alkalinity by an alkaline reagent fed from an alkali feeder 2, and the sample, adjusted to more than pH 11, is introduced to a combustion tube 6 through a sample introducing part 4. The combustion tube 6 is held in a constant temperature by an electric furnace 7, and refined air is supplied as a carrier gas from a gas feeder 5. A dehumidifier 9 is used for the purpose of moisture separation since a large amount of moisture serves to be a component which disturbs the detection of CO2 by means of a succeeding CO2 detector 10. |
