PURPOSE:To enable highly continuous packing of an active material, and obtain a current collecting body, in which a small degree of the separation of the active material is caused during charge-and-discharge and the contact area of the active material is large, by performing wavy- form work with an arbitrary thickness on a lead plate or a lead alloy plate after it is subjected to punching work. CONSTITUTION:A punching metal, after being subjected to drilling work, is passed between rotary drums having wavy form with an arbitrary thickness so as to perform wavy-form work 2 with an arbitrary thickness on the punched metal. In order to obtain a current collecting body having a terminal efficiently, a continuous current collecting body having plate upper parts 1 and plate bottom parts 3 is made by providing alternately unpunched metallic plate parts the width of which are adjusted to the length of the terminal part 1, and unpunched metallic plate parts the width of which are adjusted to the length of the bottom part 3. Next, preferably after an active material is applied to the continuous current collecting body, the metallic plate parts are provided with cuts of the sizes of the terminal part 1 and the bottom part 3 in such a manner that vibrations of cutting or the like are not given to the metallic plate parts as far as possible. Then, a lead paste is applied to thus obtained continuous current collecting body, and the body coated with the lead paste is dried. After that, the joint parts of electrode plates are cut so as to obtain electrodes with a given shape. |
