PURPOSE:To remove ash in coal at a high rate of separation, by introducing a gas into a liquid mixt. consisting of pulverized coal, hydrocarbon oil and water to form a coal/oil aggregate and separation an aqueous phase contg. a lot of ash. CONSTITUTION:To a mixed liquid consisting of 100pts.wt. pulverized coal of average particle size <=50mu, 1-20pts.wt. hydrocarbon oil such as fuel oil and 300-1,000pts.wt. water, are added a surfactant having forming or penetrating property, such as an alkylbenzenesulfonate in an amt. of 10-200ppm based on the water depending on requirements and an inorg. salt such as sodium tripolyphosphate, and the solid phase is well contacted with the liquid phase by introducing 250-2,000 Nl of a gas such as air per 1,000kg of coal with agitation t o form a coal/oil aggregate. Then the introduction of the air and the agitation are ceased and, after the mixt. is allowed to stand to be separated into an org. phase contg. most of the coal/oil aggregate and an aq. phase contg. a lot of ash, the aq. phase is removed. |
