PURPOSE:To obtain very high degree of orientation by applying the magnetic field having a specified or higher strength to the alloy powder of R2TM17 in the direction which forms approximately a right angle with respect to the direction of compressing the powder. CONSTITUTION:As R2TM17, blended magnetic powder 8 comprising, e.g., Sm2 CO17 and binder is put in the space between moving punches 4 and 5 and an outer mold 6 which serves as a guide for said punches. The outer surface of the outer mold 16 is closely contacted with a magnetic pole 18 of an electromagnet. Then, the electromagnet is energized so as to obtain the field strength of 10KOe or more. Thereafter pushing rods 1 and 2 are pushed, thereby the powder 7 is uniformly compressed from both sides. The orientation degree K=0.90 is obtained by said method of formation. Even though the volume filling rate is further increased, the residual magnetic moment is not affected so much. Therefore, the high orientation degree can be expanded to the high-filling-rate region. R is an alloy comprising one or more of Sm, Y, Ce, La, Rr, Gd, Er, and M.M (mesh metal); and TM is an alloy comprising two or more of Fe, Co, Ni, Mn, Cu, Cr, Ag, Al, Ti, Zr, Hb, Nb, and Ta. |
