The device signals via the conventional brake lights of a vehicle all reductions in speed of that vehicle on the public highway. Brake lights are controlled by a speed reduction detector. The brake lights may light up for all speed reductions irrespective of the cause, or may light up at the first indication and then if slowing down continues flash on and off until the vehicle stops. The speed reduction detector may be mechanical, electrical, magnetic, electronic, reactive, photographic, or a combination of these systems. The indication may be given by circular, gyratory or rectilinear mass inertia effect, accumulated kinetic energy angular speed difference, a signal from the vehicle tachometer via an electronic circuit, a centrifugal force or atmospheric pressure gyroscopic device. Use may also be made of permanent magnets, mercury or liquid, eddy currents or an active device while the tachometer needle moves towards zero. The device provides a faster and more efficient visualisation of braking, signalling real speed reductions.
|
