Rutin sulfates I (R = H or SO3R1, R1 = pharmaceutically acceptable salt cation, at least 6 of R = SO3R1) were prepd. by treating rutin with a trialkylamine-SO3 complex at 50-90≦̸, isolating the trialkylamine sulfate salt, followed by treatment with an alkali metal acetate. Thus, rutin was treated with Me3N-SO3 complex and the resultant rutin poly(hydrogen sulfate) Me3N salt (II) (13.1% S) was treated with AcONa to give the corresponding Na salt (III) (15.3% S). II and III showed complement inhibiting activity. |
