PURPOSE:To enable to perform a discrimination between water and root vegetables which are an object to be cooked and to normally realize an appropriate cooking, by a method wherein a ratio of a change in an output of a detector, being produced after a power is energized to a high-frequency generating means, is detected, and an additional heating time is set corresponding to said ratio of the change. CONSTITUTION:If, with a magnetron 2 driven, a high-frequency induction heating is made on an object to be cooked in a heating chamber, an output of a density detector 10, mounted to an exhaust opening in the heating chamber, varies in its output curve depending upon whether the object to be cooked is water, root vegetables, or leaf vegetables. Then, the output of the detector 10 is inputted to a processor 17 to set an additional heating time depending on a ratio of the change in the output of the detector 10 after the magnetron 2 starts and a time during which it attains a given detection level. Additionally, a change in an output, being produced for a period of time during whith it attains the additional time after it reaches said level, is detected, and if the change becomes below a set value, a control is made so as to release the magnetron 2 from energization. |
