A push-on device for valve bags, having a gripper for transporting a valve bag from a pile to a filling device, can be made overall simpler, more compact and more mobile, with the aid of gripper forming jaws which are concave on the inside, have lower projecting gripping edges and can be moved together to give a rounded form to the valve, this design thus making it possible, even, if required, in the case of alternating packaging, for a plurality of push-on devices to be made available at a filling device. The gripper here takes on both the task of bag transport and of valve formation. In this case, suction lifters and holding-down devices can support valve formation. The functioning of these elements can, by means of a vertically movable stack carrier, be restricted to a specified working range, and thus be simplified. It is advantageous for the whole unit to be made displaceable by means of an undercarriage.
