PURPOSE:To obtain a titled arc welding device that can obtain proper weld zone even when gap of objects to be welded changes continuously by detecting the gap preceding the welding torch and changing the polarity ratio of output of a bipolar welding power source according to the detected value. CONSTITUTION:When starting welding, a welding torch 16 and a gap sensor 28 are run along the weld line, that is a gap 20, of objects 10 to be welded. Simultaneously with starting of welding, a wire 24 is fed from a reel 22 to the direction of the objects 10. When the tip of the wire 24 arrives at the objects 10, welding current is let flow from a bipolar welding power source 26 to the objects 10 through a feeding tip 16 and via a wire 24. The feeding tip of the wire 24 is molten by this welding current to generate an arc, and the objects 10 are welded. At the time of welding, the sensor 28 detects the width of the gap prior to the welding, and supplies an output signal proportional to the detected width to a polarity commanding device 30. The ratio of positive polarity period to negative polarity period of output of the electrode 26 is indicated by the command of commanding device 30, and above-mentioned welding is performed. |
