This is prepd. by reliving the swollen state of mass of collagen, previously swollen in acid medium, by increasing the pH, and then uniformly distributing reinforcing fibres in the mass by stirring. The fibres are prepf. smooth synthetic fibres, e.g. of superpolyamide. Pref., dispersions of polyacrylic esters and/or polyvinylidene chloride are added to the reinforced collagen. Product affords high strength filaments for surgical and musical instrument applications. |
