Heterocyclic guanidine derivatives of the general formula I <IMAGE> in which the substituents are defined in Claim 1, and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof are obtained by reacting a lactam salt of the general formula III with a guanidine derivative of the general formula IV in a preferably anhydrous organic solvent and optionally converting the compounds obtained into the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. The compounds which can be prepared according to the invention inhibit, for example, gastric secretion and lower the blood sugar level. <IMAGE>
