PURPOSE:To increase the storage capacity of a magnetic disc with deficiency substantially and to speed up accessing, by providing two types of defective flag information for each minimum storage area header and designating a succeeding storage area or a spare storage area accordingly. CONSTITUTION:A control section 104 checks and discriminates whether the content of a header is normally read or not. When reading is made normally, the control section 104 references a flag register 105 and discriminates whether a defective sector flag or a defective track flag is set. If the defective sector flag is set, the control secton 104 designates the next sector and gives an address read command to a disc device 101. When the defective track is present, a seek command to a spare track is outputted from the control section 104 to a disc device 101. |
