The invention relates to a disc milling cutter for milling axles, crankshafts or the like, with cassettes insertable into a one-piece, ring-like basic body and carrying cutting tips. The cassettes, with one of their foot surfaces facing the basic body, are radially supported on a circular-arc-shaped inner surface of the ring-like basic body and are axially secured by a ring rib of the basic body. Here, radial recesses are to be dispensed with and the cassettes can be braced in the peripheral direction of the cutter in the basic body without each cassette requiring a clamping or bracing means, and when radial clamping bolts are used these clamping bolts are not loaded in shear. To this end, the cassettes (5, 6, 7), while their faces bear against the faces of the adjacent cassettes, form an uninterrupted, uniform circle of cutting-tip holders. In this arrangement, one (6) of the cassettes has parallel faces (18, 19) or faces (18, 19) directed outwards towards one another, and at least one (7) of its adjacent cassettes has correspondingly inclined adjacent faces, and a clamping wedge (26) effective against the adjacent cassette (7) is arranged on one face (18) of the cassette (6) having parallel faces (18, 19) or faces (18, 19) directed outwards towards one another. <IMAGE>
