PURPOSE:To eliminate excessive bend or twist put on an optical fiber core wire and an optical fiber core wire aggregate, by placing a thin double pipe in a pressure resisting cylinder of a joint box. CONSTITUTION:A joint box of an optical submarine cable is constituted of a pressure resisting cylinder 2 and covers called end plates 1a, 1b, placed on both sides of said cylinder. Subsequently, a tensile strength body 6 of the optical submarine cable is retained to one side end plate 1a, and after that, an optical fiber core wire aggregate 11a led out from the cable is stored into the inside of thin plate pipe 13 constituted of half-split pipes 13a, 13b. Subsequently, a core wire aggregate 11b led out from an optical submarine cable 5b retained by the other end plate 1b is shaped to a spiral form. In this way, excessive bend or twist is not put on the optical fiber core wire and the optical fiber core wire aggregate. |
