The redn. of shark-skin melt fracture during extrusion of a molten narrow mol. wt. distribution ethylene polymer into film under conditions which would normally produce fracture is effected by extruding the polymer through a die with die gap greater than 50, pref. 50-200mils and where(part of) the surface of the die lip and/or die land in contact with the polymer is at a divergent or convergent angle relative to the axis of polymer flow.
