PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of the degree of flatness except the end section of a disk corresponding surface by using the method in the case when the end section of the disk corresponding surface such as a magnetic head is beveled, etc. and relatively moving a grinding tape with grains having hardness lower than that of a workpiece to the workpiece under a pressing condition. CONSTITUTION:A grinding tape 6 travels toward a winding reel 9 from a delivery reel 7 under a condition that the tape is pushed against the upper surface of the workpiece 10 fixed to a driving table 11 by an elastic body 5 made of rubber of the lower surface of a tape guide 1. For example. 1kg/cm<2> pressure is applied to the grinding tape 6, which has a 0.5mum diameter and 75mum thickness and is given 6-7 Mohs' hardness, through the elastic body 5 with 2mm. thickness to the workpiece 10 consisting of a alumina ceramic material having 9 Mohs' hardness, and the driving table 11 is driven at 30m/min speed. |
