PURPOSE:To provide a driver capable of switching a printing head to a pressing position or a separating position with respect to a recording paper according to the moving direction thereof by providing a friction member adapted to rotate within a specified plane contacting a carriage body in linkage with the reciprocation of the printing head. CONSTITUTION:As a guide shaft 4 rotates with a carriage feed motor 22 through helical gears 24 and 7, friction members 15a and 15b having a projection engaging a keyway thereof rotates. A carriage body 9 moves with the carriage feed motor 22 through a carriage wire 19 and gets into contact with either of the friction members 15a or 15b and receives a force in the direction of the arrow A1 or opposite thereto due to a friction. In this manner, the printing head 8 on the carriage body 9 is caused to press on a recording paper 3 or to be separated therefrom. |
