PURPOSE:To prevent electric shock and avoid breakage of the heating element, by covering the rod-like heating element of silicon carbide with the protecting member having the slit for infrared irradiation in stretching and relaxing treatment of the magnetic tape, photographic film etc. CONSTITUTION:The thermoplastic resin film of aromatic type polyeter such as polyethyleneterephthalate etc., its polymer blend, copolymer etc. is stretched in the space between the roll and another roll of which peripheral speed is different from this roll. To irradiate infrared ray to the film between the rolls, the cylindrical heating element composed of silicon carbide which is surrounded with the cylindrical protecting member provided with the slit for irradiation of thermal ray on the side facing to the film and composed of heat-resistant ceramics, alumina as a main component is provided. And the film is stretched, being irradiated with thermal ray. At that time, the endless belt-like film of the same quality as the film to be treated may coexist and thermal ray may be irradiated. |
